What part of your job do you cherish the most? 

Samiksha Parkar:- The love for baking has been grown out of my passion to apply my creativity into something more meaningful. Every client comes with a unique set of requirements. The process of guiding the clients, giving references, designing the cakes and ultimately turning the sketches into reality is the amazing part of this job role. And finally feedbacks from happy clients, their smiles are all worth the efforts which give the feeling of satisfaction and encouragement to work on raising the bar. 

What has been your major achievements as Home Baker? 

Samiksha Parkar:- When I started baking, it was purely for passion and hobby. But things turned out differently when the passion was converted into business and I started exploring the immense field of baking. Learning, practising and improving with every stage and every order I took. My mentors and teachers have helped to make my work a step ahead, which lead me to achieve my first recognition and appreciation from D’lecta Foods, wherein I was selected as their “SuperChef of the Month” for January 2019. The year 2019 was really a blessing. I participated for D’lecta Foods contest for their Cakeology 2019 event and our entry was selected as the winner for a gift hamper as well as our cake was displayed with D’lecta at their stall at one of the biggest bakery event in India i.e. Cakeology 2019. We also participated for India’s and City’s top Homebakers initiative by homebakers.co.in and were chosen to be Mumbai’s Top 25 Home bakers and among India’s Top 200. It is a big achievement and appreciation for our work which proves that I am on the right path and will continue to improve and grow. 

Baking has evolved over the years… what according to you has been the finest change or evolution? 

Samiksha Parkar:- In recent years baking has evolved, I do agree with that, coming from a non-food industry background I have personally experienced lots of changes in the baking industry. Today, the baking industry has grown exponentially and the community is getting bigger in order to encourage and support small homemakers to pursue their passion and hobby in this profession. The bakery industry is all about learning, sharing and transforming ideas, skills, techniques and knowledge. Many young professionals have started experimenting and giving a unique taste to the products with confidence. As a home baker and being in the industry for the last couple of years, I have seen myself growing with the same confidence to learn new techniques and put my thought processes for creating new and unique products. 

Where do you like to go for culinary travel? 

Samiksha Parkar:- Exploring old and untouched culture and communities are the best places for me to get inspired from. Having said that, personally I would like to visit the old British community and European nations in order to understand how the baking culture has evolved. Personally, I 

believe, we should always remember the roots of baking, even though there has been tremendous advancement in this industry. 

How important are cake figures and edible cake decoration for you while decorating cakes? 

Samiksha Parkar:- For me, making cakes or fondant figures is as important as showing my creativity and artistic presentation of my skills. I like my cakes to be 100% edible for which I personally recommend my clients to opt-out for customized edible decorative. Customization is sometimes challenging, but the passion for achieving the desired design and meeting the client’s expectation, for me, it is kind of a reward recognized. 

What would you call your most magical creation? 

Samiksha Parkar:- Our baking venture started with the idea of creating beautiful and delicious cakes which will enhance the special occasions of our clients. At Twirling Spatula we follow the motto of “Crafting Blissful Memories” wherein every client and their ideas, thoughts and requirements are utmost important and to convert them into edible reality with our creative minds is our responsibility. Every cake we bake is a magical creature with its unique customization and design which makes the clients happy and contributes to creating blissful memories. 

Please tell us the funniest demand that has come to you from a customer? 

Samiksha Parkar:- Until now haven’t come across any funny demands but, I have come across some clients who are very specific about the customization and gives intricate information of every small detail which is required on the cake. It is fun doing such projects which is challenging, yet boost my innovative mind.
