IIHM Announces 4th Edition Young Chef Olympiad 2018

~ Announced at IIHM’s Annual International Food Fest Held Across India ~

Bengaluru, 20th December, 2017: The hottest international culinary competition for hospitality students, Young Chef Olympiad (YCO), is back with its 4th edition in 2018. The contest, conceptualized & executed by International Institute of Hotel Management, will be held in India across 4 Indian cities, supported by Ministry of Tourism, Government of Indiaand the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka.

Young Chef Olympiad was created as a platform for chefs-in-training from around the world to interact and showcase their talent. The previous three editions got tremendous positive response from the international hospitality community, making the event the most-anticipated contest across the world.

YCO 2018 will play host to over 50 countries, including England, France, Malaysia, Mexico, Scotland, Australia, USA, Spain, Sweden, Honk Kong, Iceland and more, between 28th January 2018 and 2nd February 2018. The event opens in New Delhi, followed by cook-off in Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata with the Grand Finale which will happen in Kolkata on the 2nd of February, 2018.

About Young Chef Olympiad:

The Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) was conceptualized by International Institute of Hotel Management to connect young chefs globally and to build bridges for talent in the field of culinary arts across borders. It also aimed at blending culinary cultures and making it an integral part of the participant’s lives. IIHM intend to scale up every year and globally reach out to as many countries as possible for the culinary event. Food has always been the biggest unifier and continues to be so in today’s day and age. YCO has connected talent across borders from the best culinary colleges under one roof, making it a truly global event.

The past three editions saw eminent chefs including Sanjeev Kapoor, Ranveer Brar, Karen Anand, Abhijit Saha, Avijit Ghosh, Udo Leick, Shaun Kenworthy and Boris Leung as a part of the judges panel.

The participant countries included Italy, Dubai, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Each country’s team consists of a contestant and a mentor, typically among the best chefs of the region. The contestants are judged on various aspects beyond mere food preparation, including presentation, hygiene, creativity and cooking technique.

The winners of the previous editions were awarded the YCO trophy, cash prize of $10,000 and other prizes.

YCO 2018 will play host to over 50 countries, and will be held over six days in four Indian cities. The Principal Judge and IIHM Mentor, celebrated chef and pioneer in Indian Television cookery show, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, will be a part of the judges panel.

Other judges will include Prof. David Foskett (Chairman and the Jury), Chef Andreas Muller, Boris Leung, Udo Leick, Chef Ranveer Brar, Chef Abhijit Saha, Chef Avijit Ghosh, Chef Saurabh Shahi, Chef Ajay Chopra, and Chef Pradip Rozario, Chef Manjit Singh Gill, Chef Suresh Hinduja and Chef Sudhir Sibal.
