About Daisho

Daisho is the electronic music alias of designer and futurist, Angad Bharaj. As a part of On the Corner records (Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards Label of the Year), Daisho has collaborated with exceptional musicians including
the Afro-Latin electronic powerhouse Penya, ace percussionist Magnus P.I., and most recently the Nairobian Benga scene’s figurehead, Makadem along with South African producer Behr – with a rework of their sublime track – Nyako. With his debut single on OtC, Simba, being compared to early Four Tet vibes, Daisho’s music has been featured on various platforms including NTS radio, The Wire, Stamp the Wax, BBC radio 6, Worldwide FM, and has has his tracks played by renowned selectors such as Bonobo, Gilles Peterson, Detroit Swindle, amongst others. Currently, Daisho has set up base in Bangalore, experimenting with sounds for his debut LP while working closely with Boxout FM where he hosts a monthly show, The Atyp Hour, sharing his inspirations and music from across the globe.

Daisho is known for his infrequent and atypical DJ sets and has played alongside industry bigwigs including Tasker (Whities), Eclair Fifi (LuckyMe/NTS), Mehmet Aslan (Fleeting Wax). Daisho has also shared his selections with big festival audiences including most recently Magnetic Fields Festival 2018, and the Boxout Weekender Festival 2018, with music from the realm of jazz, samba, funk, and disco, to garage, grime, techno, and bass.
