The Varanasi Cuisine Brunch is inspired by the vibrant food culture of Varanasi, a city known for its diverse and rich culinary heritage. Our menu will include an array of appetisers, main courses, accompaniments, bread, desserts, and beverages that capture the essence of Varanasi. The connection between Kolkata and Varanasi is deep-rooted, with both cities sharing a rich cultural and culinary heritage.
Varanasi is a spiritual hub and a treasure trove of culinary delights. The Varanasi Cuisine Brunch at JW Marriott Kolkata will feature a curated selection of authentic dishes prepared using traditional recipes and techniques, allowing guests to savour the rich flavours that have been passed down through generations.
The menu for the Varanasi Cuisine Brunch is curated to represent the city's vibrant food culture. Appetisers will include Kachori Sabzi, crisp kachoris stuffed with spiced lentils served with a flavorful potato curry; Chura Matar, flattened rice stir-fried with green peas, spices, and herbs; and Tamatar Chaat, a tangy and spicy tomato-based chaat. Main courses will feature Baati Chokha, roasted wheat balls served with mashed spiced vegetables and ghee; Litti Chokha, whole wheat flour dough balls stuffed with sattu (roasted chickpea flour) served with chokha (spiced mashed vegetables); and Dal Puri, deep-fried bread stuffed with spiced lentils served with Aloo Rasa. Accompaniments include Banarasi Dum Aloo, baby potatoes cooked in a rich and spicy tomato gravy; Nimona, a traditional green pea curry; and Varanasi Style Paneer, a paneer cooked with a blend of traditional spices. Breads will include Puri and Paratha. Desserts will feature Malaiyyo, a frothy, creamy dessert topped with saffron and pistachios; Launglata, a sweet pastry filled with a mixture of khoya and dry fruits flavoured with cloves; and Kesar Jalebi, crisp, deep-fried spirals soaked in saffron-infused syrup. Beverages will include Thandai, a refreshing milk-based drink flavoured with nuts and spices; Aam Panna, a tangy and sweet raw mango drink; and Kullhad Chai, a traditional tea served in clay cups. Guests can also enjoy live cooking stations where chefs will prepare popular Varanasi street foods like chaat and kachoris, allowing them to witness the culinary craftsmanship up close.
