Our sustainable ecofriendly haven at Tadoba - Waghoba Eco Lodge recently bagged The John Wakefield Memorial Award for Outstanding Eco Lodge of the Year 2023. The lodge jointly shared the highest recognition in category with a Chambal Safari lodge, Mela Kothi.

The latest addition to our collection of wildlife sojourns across Central India, Waghoba Eco Lodge in Tadoba opened its doors to the wilderness addicts in 2021 and has been named after a local deity – Waghoba.

Set in a quaint, beautiful jungle with hilly terrain and undulating landscape, Waghoba Eco Lodge is a model of sustainable retreat. Through its Eco-friendly Adobe construction, Rainwater harvesting, Phytroid STP plant, 50 KV Solar Plant, Organic farm to fork dining, Rewilding measures, Commitment to no single-use plastic & Authentic sustainable operations, it champions green architecture and responsible tourism.

The lodge has garnered varied accolades for its responsible construction & operations, in just 2 years of operation, and has managed to set new standards of eco-friendliness and conscious luxury. The cottages at Waghoba Eco Lodge have been crafted by drawing inspiration from the very best of eco-construction, from all across the globe.

Excited about the widely acclaimed win, Manav Khanduja, Co-founder, Pugdundee Safaris said, “We are eternally thankful to the very able panel of judges who found our efforts fitting for this prestigious recognition. We are also thankful to our team at Waghoba Eco Lodge who has been tirelessly working towards making the lodge a preferred choice for every eco-luxe experience seeker.”

Sustainability is ingrained in each aspect of its construction and the cottages have been built meticulously with handmade Adobe bricks, local stone & Guna vault roofs. Standing true to brands commitment of contributing towards the local economy, most of the lodge construction work has been done by workers from the adjoining villages and the material used, is primarily procured from the neighboring areas, thereby keeping lodges’ carbon footprint to a minimum and giving employment to the locals.

The lodge also houses a north east facing wildlife photography hide – The Lake Hide overlooking a small, all-season water body, where photographers can take shots at an eye level. Nature library and lounge, covered swimming pool, a charming deck, welcome area & a well ventilated spacious dining hall serving both local & global cuisines are some of the other highlights of Waghoba Eco Lodge.

The nature stewardship alliance charity, TOFTigers, in association with Sanctuary Nature Foundation, came together to bring the 6th TOFTigers Wildlife Tourism Awards 2023. The theme this year was ‘Recognising and Rewarding – The Good Work of Individuals, Business and Communities’. The Awards aimed to highlight and reward the very best in the nature

tourism field; those individuals, park management, naturalists, businesses, Environment supporters, Wildlife photographer, Wildlife Filmaker, service providers and community enterprises who are leading the way in wilderness destinations in the Indian subcontinent.
