Cake mixing ceremony that dates back to 17th century Europe marked the arrival of the harvest season. And now, Cake mixing has become a celebratory event across India. This is not the home-baked cakes, muffins and pastries one is talking about. Or the tarts and the chocolate cakes one buys at cut-throat prices across the counters of beautifully decorated cake shops. Cake-mixing is an event unto itself and brings people together in fun and frolic to surrounding one of our favourite delicacies – The Christmas Cake. Christmas is no fun without the traditional Christmas cake. And making it is no quick and easy task -- preparations begin months in advance for that.
Hotel O2, this year for the fourth time to maintain the tradition has organized the Cake Mixing Ceremony. The event took place at The Drunken Monkey of Hotel O2, Kaikhali on 27th November, 2019.
Cake mixing, however, is poles apart from cake baking which happens much after cake mixing is done. The ingredients that go into the cake mixing do not include flour and eggs. So, the cake mixing of Hotel O2 took place with ingredients like Cashew, Kismis, Walnut, Almond, Khajur, Tutti Frutti, Aamsotto, Murabba, Pista, Sweet Ginger, Cinnamon Sticks, Green Cardamom, Nut Meg, Mace, etc. They have used crushes like Pineapple Crush, Kewe Crush, Mango Crush, Orange Crush, and Cardamom, Cinnamon and Clove Powder as ingredients in the ceremony. Orange and Mango Juice have been used in the cake mixture.
Regarding the Cake Mixing Ceremony, the owners Shrija Loharuka and Anisha Loharuka of Hotel O2 said, "Winter always calls for celebration, and it is very important to take a break from our monotonous life. Every year as an in house celebration we organize this event where our employees can participate and enjoy it. Having this type of event makes people relaxed and happy, which all we need for our employees. We call it a Pre Christmas Celebration."
