It's Real Bread Week till March 1 - let's celebrate the city's best additive-free loaves and the places that bake them.   

Foodhall: Gourmet superstore Foodhall bakes up the widest variety of breads and sweet bakery items in the city: sourdoughs, French baguettes, Ciabattas, herbed Focaccia bread,  masala-filled kulcha breads, gluten-free bread, lavash, pita bread, Vol-au-vent, New York-style sesame-coated bagels and hot-dog buns all come out of their bakery ovens.  The smell of fresh bread greets customers as they walk into the stores, Monday through Sunday, starting at 10 AM.

Don’t miss the Roasted almond & orange teacake; Pain au chocolat; Chicken Spinach Feta Strudel; sliced Soybean & Brown rice bread; or Kimchi croissant — their star offerings. Go early for the best selection.

Sequel: As sourdough is becoming Mumbai's bread of choice, visit Sequel to get a fresh loaf of warm, guilt-free goodness. The Buckwheat, Rice & Walnut Sourdough is organic, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free and completely plant-based. Another wholesome option is their Nut & Seed Loaf, completely vegan, organic and gluten-free.

Got a sweet tooth? Sequel's gluten-free and dairy-free Banana Bread with Peruvian cacao, blueberries and Kashmiri walnuts will leave you feeling satisfied with the added goodness of cacao. You can enjoy this with your morning java, your afternoon tea, or give it to your foodie friends as the perfect gift.

La Folie: La Folie makes a variety of sourdough breads which are used within the menu at La Folie Lab in Bandra. The gourmet patisserie brand now also retails their Whole Wheat; Harvest Grain Loaf; Seeded Multigrain; and Olive Garlic loaves from all their locations, across the city. La Folie's best-selling variant is their Whole Wheat Sourdough loaf, made using stone-milled organic ‘khapli flour,’ whole wheat flour, unrefined sea salt and a natural sourdough culture.

All of La Folie's sourdough breads are free of preservatives and have a longer shelf life if stored correctly. The cold fermentation process used, lends a distinguished flavour to the bread, making it a versatile ‘everyday bread’ variant.

This menu further divulges a diverse range of freshly baked bread; from Rustic Loaves like a Sourdough Baguette and a Rustic Ciabatta; to Pullman Loaves (sliced) such as the unique 80% Whole Wheat Loaf; to rousing Table Breads that include a Black Sesame and Green Olive EPI bread and Butter Glazed Pretzels to name a few; to finally Burger Buns such as the Brioche bun or the classic Milk bun.
