Chowman Chain of Restaurants Embraces Food Safety Day 2024

7th June’24: This year's World Food Safety Day on June 7th focuses on the theme of "Prepare for the Unexpected," emphasizing the importance of being ready to address food safety incidents that may occur despite our precautionary measures. Chowman restaurant chain is also taking proactive measures to follow this theme, guaranteeing both preparedness and quick action to protect public health.

Staff Training on Food Safety’s Importance: Chowman has always placed great importance on ensuring food safety, but this year's theme has led to a renewed emphasis on providing thorough training for staff and making improvements to the infrastructure. Each restaurant in the chain is furnished with backup power systems to address any unexpected power outages, guaranteeing that refrigeration and food storage are maintained at the correct temperature. Staff members undergo regular drills to prepare them for prompt and efficient responses during unforeseen circumstances, strengthening their adherence to protocols for food safety and handling.

Managing Regular Logbooks: Due to the nature of food supply chains, Chowman understands the significance of keeping up to date on food safety advisories. The company has set up a specialized team to keep watch on food safety databases and alerts. This team makes sure that any possible dangers are detected early and shared quickly throughout all locations. Chowman is able to track and resolve contamination problems promptly, therefore stopping the transmission of foodborne diseases.

Quarterly Lab Test: Few raw materials are imported while the rest undergo inspection as per BIS standard certified use. We further check the nutritional value of each through the labelling which posits a big factor. Furthermore, we have mandated quarterly lab test of cooked/raw items, drinking water and high-risk food like baos, momo, salads. We’ve further implemented separately labelled chopping boards for veg, seafood & red-meat to prevent cross contamination. Cleaning and sanitization are two very significant factor and we’ve appointed FSS or Food Safety Supervisor to do the minute work pertaining to quality- check for serving fresh food to our customer.

Twice-a-Week Food-Audit: We conduct Food Audit twice every week with our team of Head Chefs & Food Safety Team checking quality, quantity and the hygiene factor as well as branding and packaging. This helps us in maintaining consistency and further directing our valued employees towards the importance of serving quality food to the customers.

Live-customer feedback response and solutions: We mandate no automated response to complaints shared with us by employing over 50 people whose sole job-role comprise of responding to customer complaints and feedback and giving them instant solutions. Regular calls are made to orders placed asking for feedback and thereby taking opinions, further helping us to keep a check on our serving.

“Food safety goes beyond just adhering to protocols during regular operations; it involves being ready for unforeseen circumstances. In the restaurant business, it is essential to foresee and address potential risks before they escalate into problems. The theme for this year has motivated us to strengthen our current processes and embrace innovative technologies to guarantee that we are constantly prepared to confront any food safety issues effectively. He further states that their primary focus is on ensuring the health and safety of their customers. They emphasize their dedication to delivering safe and high-quality food by remaining prepared for any unforeseen circumstances. They are confident that with ongoing improvements and vigilant measures, they will be able to overcome any obstacles that arise. “
