Christmas Cake Mixing Ceremony @ Meluha, The Fern, Mumbai

Meluha, The Fern,An Ecotel Hotel, Mumbai organized a Christmas Cake Mixing Ceremony recently. Director Culinary, Parimal Sawant along with the team of Chefs and guests staying in the hotel participated in the ceremony at Tiara, the lobby level coffee shop at Meluha.

Says Director Culinary, Parimal Sawant, traditional plum cake is an integral part of the Christmas festivities. The cake mixing ceremony marks the arrival of the Christmas eason. A plum cake has to be cured for at least six to eight weeks so that the cake acquires a certain texture and taste.  There are legends attached to it. It is a community event and the cake, so the story goes, fulfills wishes.

A total of 165 kg of various dry fruits including cashew nuts, almonds, figs, raisins, walnuts, orange peel, prunes, cranberry, tutty fruity were mixed along with fruit jam, caramel, clove, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon powder, wines and other liquors.
