Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, said that the government is planning to promote wildlife sanctuaries and also start backwater tourism in the state. He added in his statement, “If you visit any particular state having such natural resources, they show their wildlife sanctuaries. In Goa too, wildlife sanctuaries need to be promoted.”
The state government has never promotes the Bondla wildlife sanctuary. It is very beautiful and so are the Mhadei, Netravali and other sanctuaries, he said. The minister is also keen to promote Goa’s backwaters, which have a huge potential in it. We need to look at houseboat tourism, just as our Southern state Kerala has, he added.
The chief minister of Goa has issued instructions to the tourism department to explore these possibilities, so that Goa becomes one of India’s top tourist destinations. Pramod Sawant also stated that the government of Goa would come out with a new application on Goa tourism. “I have asked Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) to come up with the app so that tourists know each and every tourist place in the state and distance to it. This kind of new and innovative strategy will help tourists,” he said.
