Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan joins the fight against Plastics

Pune, 22 October 2018: Plastic pollution is a global problem and has an adverse effect on the environment, it negatively impact the plants, wildlife, and even human population. Plastics are non-biodegradable and hence it creates a significant harmful impact on the environment. Thus, to secure the environment and for a sustainable development, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan had hosted a ‘Plastic Recycle Session’ with the initiative, named as, #MyGarbageMyResponsibility. Joining the worldwide fight against Plastics, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan has put a ban on plastic straws and stirrers which were earlier used by the hotel.

To serve our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and with the Spirit to Serve our Communities, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan has taken the pledge of #MyGarbageMyResponsibility to ensure an eco-friendly environment. Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan believes in minimizing the use of plastics and recycling can be the best gift for Mother Earth. Being mindful of this, they have tied up with Rudra Environmental Solutions, an NGO that collects plastic waste and recycle them into Poly Fuel (fuel used for cooking like Kerosene) with their innovative ideas of waste management.

To preserve the environment and ensure development, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan will be donating all the plastic bottles and bathroom amenities which get discarded post the guests vacate to Rudra Environmental Solutions for proper waste management. Mr Amit Kumar, General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan said, “On an average, approximately 35,000 plastic bottles of bathroom amenities are used at our property in a month. These will now get collected and donated to the NGO. In addition to that, we also have a special area within the hotel premises where the associates of our hotel can bring any form of plastics from their home and can deposit it there. This along with the bottles and bathroom amenities from the rooms will be sent to the NGO for processing.”
