Different staycation approach of millennials.

Make my trip has released a report according to which a lot of Indian travellers are preferring alternative accommodation over hotel rooms. The report is titled 'Where will India stay on their next trip'. According to the report, 48% of the travellers are most likely to book alternative accommodation as villas, apartments, homestays, hostels, cottages and farm stays for the next trip. The trend is led by the millennials who have shown a higher interest in alternatives.

As per the survey, 55% of the travellers have alternative accommodations as their first choice. Commenting on the emerging trend, Vipul Prakash, Group COO, MakeMyTrip Limited said, “The diversified offerings from the hospitality industry in terms of alternative accommodation options like homestays, villas, hostels, apartments, short-term rentals are playing an important role in meeting the evolving demands of travellers. The results of this study show how this segment is gradually gaining a strong foothold in the market. At a time when customers, especially millennials prefer experiential travel choices – alternative accommodations are offering quality yet economical, offbeat options and it is only set to grow more popular with Indian travellers".
