A classical rich dessert perfect for this festive season

  • Almond – 500 gms
  • Milk – 1 ltr
  • Sugar – 100 gms
  • Ghee – 100 ml
  • Saffron strands – a pinch for garnish


  • In a bowl of water add almonds and soak overnight.
  • Drain the water and peel the skin of the almonds.
  • In a blender, add milk and almonds and blend till smooth.
  • Soak saffron strands in hot milk and keep aside.
  • Place a thick bottomed nonstick pan on medium flame and add 100 ml of ghee.
  • v Add in the almond mixture and stir for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • v Add sugar and stir well for another 5 minutes.
  • v Add saffron soaked milk to the mix and keep stirring.
  • v Cook the halwa by stirring until it turns into a thick mixture.
  • v Serve warm or chilled.
