The cuisine of Myanmar is one that has undergone many changes over the decades. The food is hearty and celebrates locally harvested ingredients.
At the recently launched Burmese restaurant Société Rangoon, our effort is to introduce authentic flavors, and that's why the menu has been thoughtfully curated by a Burmese couple, Chef Zaw Mahesh and Tin Muyar Zaw. The talented brother-sister duo, Krish Nayak and Apeksha Kamath, are the proud owners and brains behind Société Rangoon. They also own renowned restaurants such as Taiki, Kubo & Tiger Thai.
The dishes to look out for include Laphet Thohk, a traditional salad made using fermented tea leaf, Nan Gyi Thohk, a dish with thick round rice noodles mixed with curried chicken and chili oil, Fermented Tealeaf-marinated chicken wings, the signature household dish of Burma - Mohinga, a black rice and sticky white rice dish wrapped in banana leaf and served with mixed mushrooms, Chef Tin's Rose Sagu, Chef Zaw's Masala Fish, among other everyday family recipes and Burmese delicacies for festive occasions.
So, join us in celebrating the rich culture of this ancient country, whose cuisine tells many different stories of the people and their journey through time.
