Festive season commences at BLR Airport’s 080 lounge with cake mixing ceremony

CRAFTING DELICIOUS HOLIDAY TRADITIONS AT THE 080 LOUNGE OPERATED BY TRAVEL FOOD SERVICES

The festive season kicked-off at the 080 Domestic Lounge at BLR Airport’s Terminal 1 with an engaging cake-mixing ceremony on November 8, 2023. The annual Christmas Cake Mixing celebration organized by Travel Food Services (TFS) was attended by experienced chefs, on-ground personnel, travelers, and members of the media.

Christmas Cake mixing is a tradition deeply rooted in symbolizing unity and camaraderie, where individuals come together to mix a variety of ingredients like fruits, nuts, and spices, all soaked in alcohol. These blended ingredients are left to steep, allowing the flavors to meld and intensify, resulting in delicious cakes enjoyed during the Christmas festivities. The macerated fruits from this ceremony are used to bake Plum cakes, mince pies, and other delectable dishes, which will be available at the 080 lounge from December 7, 2023, to December 28, 2023.

The Cake-mixing ceremony saw some notable names in the travel and food industry like Nivedith G, Hrish Thota, Sanghamitra Gupta, Deepa Rajan, Divya Ramesh, Amber Sundka, Neha Jain and Sarath Shenoy. Celebrated Chef Dominic Gerald, orchestrated and enthusiastically led the entire cake mixing ceremony, infusing his culinary mastery into the festive tradition.

After the cake-mixing ceremony, all participants were treated to a Hi-Tea experience at the 080 VIP Lounge. Guests indulged in old-fashioned Eggnog, Mulled Wine, and an array of savoury delights such as Croquettes, Wontons, Quiches, Crostini, and Bruschetta. To end the evening on a sweet note, they savoured classic Christmas Plum Cakes, Cheesecakes, Gingerbread, and Mince Pies. It was a true feast for the senses

To enhance this experience, participating travelers received a mini DIY Gingerbread House kit along with garnishes like M&Ms, Jujubes, Mini Marshmallows, and icing to craft their Gingerbread House. Guests were encouraged to share pictures of their completed gingerbread houses on their personal Instagram accounts and tag @080loungesbytfs for a chance to win exciting rewards, including complimentary access for two to the 080 Luxe Zone, a 20% discount at the bar, and much more.

TFS will continue the cake-mixing tradition on November 17, 2023, at Mumbai’s Adani Lounge by TFS Performa, Terminal 2, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
