For the first time ever, Yauatcha Kolkata introduces a Poila Baisakh festive special menu inspired by local and indigenous ingredients

Kolkata April 2019: Of all the traditional Kolkata festivals, Poila Baisakh is perhaps the most elaborate, colorful, and important. This year, Yauatcha an award-winning Chinese dim sum tea house is set to celebrate the most awaited time of the year with a special festive a la carte menu. The menu features dishes with local Bengali ingredients that are traditionally eaten or used during the Bengali New Year. This festive menu reflects the local teams’ ability to innovate, celebrate Kolkata’s local culture while retaining Yauatcha’s global characteristic style and will be available from 8th April until 30th April.

Highlights of the menu are Yauatcha’s intricately folded legendary ‘dim sum’ created with local flavours; try the vibrant Hibiscus chicken dumpling, inspired by the traditional flower that is considered auspicious. The dim sum gets its hue from the hibiscus tea extract. Another instragrammable dim sum is the Prawn and Gondhoraj lime dumpling, wherein the culinary team has added a twist to the classic har gau by adding a zing of gondhoraj.

From the main dishes, one can enjoy Steamed spicy bhetki with mango and mustard sauce, Yauatcha’s rendition of the very popular ‘Sorshe Bhetki’ or the Wild shrimp fried rice with pickled olive. For vegetarians, there is Spicy Hakka Noodles, a local favorite. An exclusive Bengali New Year cocktail has been curated for the celebrations called Huanying Xiatian made with fresh mango, Absolut vodka, and Gondhoraj lime

A celebration is incomplete without a dessert, and the refreshing Gondhoraj sorbet has been curated especially for the festivities and is the perfect summer dessert.
