Fw: Gin and Tonic at The Leela Goa!

This is one concoction we can feel proud about that has its roots in India. The story is such that Gin was a craze in England as quarter of households was making Gin.

The travel of British troops to India which was still an unknown land gave birth to the concept of Gin & Tonic. They used bitter tasting quinine, extracted from cinchona bark, to ward off malaria. It was made into a tonic by dissolving it in water and adding sugar to sweeten it. Once their favourite spirit was added, the Brits were left with a drink that tasted pretty darn good, and stopped them getting ill. Win, win!
