New Update

It is that time of the year again when our calendars are packed with events, family get-togethers, gifts and joy of sharing. To lift up the true spirit of festive season Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty, the spectacular luxury resort in Kochi has decided to go green this year. The entire hotel and the convention center will sport no-plastic, handmade decoration for Christmas. Taking the show’s limelight is the 12-foot tree made of metal, wood, and paper. The unique Christmas tree is the brainchild of Mr. Anto George, a contemporary artist and participant of Kochi Muziris Biennale 2012, along with fellow artists Najeeb A. U., Shibi Balakrishnan, and Paulson Raphael. The unconventional and unique Christmas tree goes by the theme Kerala, backwaters and the recent floods.

Unlike the regular tree, it will have alcoves in which artifacts such as boats, thatched homes, children’s toys, shelters, household materials, traditional wood puzzles, etc. are placed. The conceptualized tree not only depicts the story of Kerala and the floods but also reminds us about the unity among the people of the state and how people from all walks of life worked together and helped each other to comfort and support.

The festivities at Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty will begin with a Christmas Tree Installation ceremony on 7th of December 2018 at 05.00 pm with carol songs by the choir students of Choice School Choir, Kochi, to officially welcome the season of joy and celebrations.
