Global Tourism Resilience Day 2025 is a reminder of the tourism sector’s vital role in India’s economic growth and the need for long-term preparedness. Contributing nearly 9% to the GDP and supporting millions of jobs, the sector requires policies that ensure stability and growth. The government’s continued push for tourism infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and state-level initiatives like Andhra Pradesh’s Tourism Policy 2024-29, which grants industry status to hospitality, are steps in the right direction.
Building resilience means addressing key challenges. The rationalization of GST and a streamlined regulatory framework can boost the ease of doing business. Workforce development is another priority, as the industry needs structured training programs to bridge skill gaps. Additionally, digital transformation—from AI-driven hospitality solutions to seamless online booking systems—will enhance efficiency and global competitiveness. Sustainability must also be central to future policies, with incentives for green initiatives and responsible tourism.
Collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders will determine the sector’s future. With the right policy framework, financial support, and technological advancements, India’s tourism sector can not only withstand challenges but emerge stronger, creating lasting economic and social impact.
