Transforming Hospitality with Virtual Reality: Elevating Guest Experience at Novotel Kolkata
Akash Bansal,
Director of Operations, Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residences
At Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residences, we see virtual reality (VR) as a powerful tool that is transforming the guest journey in meaningful ways. VR enables guests to explore our hotel virtually before their stay, offering an immersive preview of our rooms, event spaces, and facilities. This has been especially valuable for wedding planners, corporate clients, and long-stay guests, allowing them to make confident, well-informed choices. Beyond pre-arrival engagement, VR is also enriching the in-stay experience. Guests can enjoy virtual tours of nearby cultural landmarks, heritage spots, and city highlights right from their room—helping them connect more deeply with the destination even before stepping out.
Our aim is not to replace the human touch but to complement it with smart, thoughtful technology. Virtual reality allows us to create a sense of excitement, comfort, and connection—long before check-in and long after check-out. As we continue to innovate, tools like VR will help us deliver more personalized, memorable, and immersive experiences that truly reflect the spirit of hospitality at Novotel Kolkata.

Reimagining Hospitality: How Virtual Reality is Revolutionizing Guest Experience at Hilton Mumbai
ARVIND KUMAR KEWALCHAND
Director Marketing & Communications, HILTON MUMBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
In hospitality, experience is everything. Every detail — from ambiance to interaction — shapes how guests remember us. As technology evolves, Virtual Reality (VR) has emerged as a powerful tool to reimagine these experiences long before a guest steps through the door.
In my previous Assignment , we embraced this innovation by launching VR hotel tours, allowing potential guests and event planners to explore our spaces in a fully immersive, 360-degree environment. Our sales team carried VR headsets to meetings, offering clients a virtual walkthrough of rooms, banquet spaces, and event setups — complete with décor options. This transformed how decisions were made, eliminating guesswork and boosting client confidence.
Where guests once relied on photos and reviews, VR now lets them "walk" through lobbies, explore amenities, or even preview a honeymoon suite — all from home. This not only builds trust but enhances personalization and emotional connection early in the journey.
Beyond marketing, VR is also a game-changer for operations. It’s being used to train staff in realistic scenarios, improving service quality and preparedness without real-world consequences.
VR isn’t just a digital novelty — it’s a storytelling tool that empowers hotels to deliver more personalized, informed, and memorable experiences. It elevates not only what we offer, but how we make our guests feel.
As we look to the future, immersive tech like VR will define the next frontier of hospitality — where experience begins long before check-in.
