A Culinary Durbar : Reliving the Royal Flavours of Awadh at JW Kitchen, JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru

JW Kitchen at JW Marriott Bengaluru proudly unveils Akbari Gate, a majestic tribute to the royal kitchens of Awadh, where culinary heritage was crafted with artistry, patience, and poetic precision.

 Evoking the splendor of Lucknow’s Akbari Darwaza, once the threshold to imperial feasts, this experience is a sensorial voyage into a world where food was not merely sustenance, but an expression of elegance and identity. Curated by Chef Abdul Haleem, whose lineage of master kebabis spans generations of culinary custodians, the menu resurrects recipes once prepared in the courtly kitchens of nawabs. At its heart lies the legendary Dora Kebab, a silken, melt-in-the-mouth delicacy wrapped in mystery and mastery, a dish that speaks of legacy as much as of flavour. 

Each course reads like a page from a royal diary: from Heeng Muttur Ke Asharfi and Kabuli Kaju Shammi to Murgh Tikka Murshid and Keeme ke Tikiya, the appetizers are a true parade of finesse. The main courses are rich with layered nuance, the velvety Paneer Aish-e-Anaar, the bold and hearty Gosht Rezaala, the refined Shaljam Zafrani, and the soulful Dal Teen Ratan. 

Live stations stir the senses with the sizzling allure of Raan ke Moti, Surkh Tawa Barrah, and Tilnaaz Machli, each echoing the vibrancy of an Awadhi street at dusk. Biryani is reimagined in royal avatars like Kathal Biryani and Bataanjan Alubukhara Biryani, perfumed with spices and sealed with tradition.

 Sweet endings arrive in the form of Sheer Khurma , rich, aromatic, and indulgent, just as it would have been served at an Eid table generations ago. With every bite, Akbari Gate at JW Kitchen honours the grandeur of India’s imperial past while offering today’s gourmands an experience steeped in authenticity, nostalgia, and the timeless romance of royal Awadhi cuisine.
