A Taste of India’s Northeast Comes Alive at JW Kitchen, JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru

This August, JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru brings to the city a cuisine rarely experienced in its full authenticity; the flavours of the Northeast. From the misty hills of Assam to the lush valleys of Mizoram, the region is home to some of the country’s most intriguing culinary traditions. Curating this journey is Chef Gitika Saikia, an Assamese food evangelist who left behind a decade-long corporate career to champion the bold, earthy flavours of her homeland.

At this immersive pop-up, expect dishes that tell stories of the land and its people. Warm up with Lau Khar, a soothing Assamese alkaline soup made with bottle gourd, or the hearty Pitang Oying, a Mishing Tribe dish of rice gruel with chicken and lentils. Relish GI-tagged Kumol Saul’or Salad with seasonal fruits, the delicate Chicken in Banana Leaf Parcels infused with regional herbs, and Sanpiau, Mizoram’s comforting rice congee served with pork skewers and fried fish. Main courses celebrate diversity with dishes like Duck with Ash Gourd, Pork with Mustard Greens, and Prawns with Roselle Leaves.

No Indian meal ends without sweets and here, you will discover Black Rice Payokh (a rich Manipuri pudding with coconut flakes), Ghila Pitha (deep-fried rice dumplings sweetened with jaggery), and the delicate Nangol Thuwa Pitha, rice cakes stuffed with coconut and jaggery, steamed in banana leaves.
