As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Anise at Taj Coromandel, Chennai invites guests to gather in the spirit of reflection and togetherness with a specially curated Iftaar experience, beginning 6.15 pm onwards. Thoughtfully designed as an à la carte offering, the menu celebrates the time-honoured traditions of breaking the fast with dishes that are both comforting and indulgent.

The Iftaar begins on a refreshing note with Roohafza, delicately infused with rose and basil seeds, alongside dates, a symbolic and nourishing way to conclude the day’s fast. A selection of crisp savouries such as Thattai, Seedai and Murukku set the tone, followed by favourites like Onion Cashew Thool Pakoda and the classic Aloo Matar Samosa. The melt-in-the-mouth Galouti Kebab, fragrant with saffron and ghee, and the hearty Chicken Tikka Roll offer satisfying starters before guests move on to the main course. The traditional Haleem takes centre stage, accompanied by Murgh Korma enriched with yoghurt and nuts; the delicately spiced Phaldari Kofta, and comforting Dal Masoor tempered with cumin and garlic.

For those seeking a grander meal, there is the Gosht Dum Biryani, basmati rice, lamb and saffron, together with Khushka, and a selection of freshly prepared Lacha or Pudina Parathas and warm Butter or Cheese Naans. The evening concludes on a sweet note with the timeless Khubani ka Meetha, stewed apricot and sugar syrup; and the delicious Shahi Tukda, bread, condensed milk and cardamom.
