Hanoi, 22 January 2026 - Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery Collection, located moments from the Hanoi Opera House and the historic Old Quarter, has announced a multi-phase renovation programme set to conclude in 2026. Rooted in culture, artistry and the art of storytelling, the renovation introduces a contemporary reinterpretation of the hotel’s theatrical spirit, enhancing the sense of place that defines the property. Through refined design details, curated atmospheres and elevated guest moments, Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery Collection will continue to offer an intimate, immersive experience where heritage and modernity exist in harmony.

The first phase of renovations took place from May to October 2025, encompassing 50 per cent of the hotel’s rooms and suites across the first to fourth floors, alongside the refurbishment of two signature dining venues: Lautrec and Son Mai. A final phase of the transformation is expected to begin this summer, extending the renovation to the remaining rooms and lobby, while also introducing refreshed leisure and event spaces, including the pool, banquet facilities and new dining concepts. Throughout the transformation, Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery Collection remains open, with works carefully phased to minimise disruption while progressively unveiling refreshed spaces.

Inspired by its immediate neighbour, the hotel’s “A Night at the Opera” narrative continues to guide the design approach. The renovation deepens this theatrical language through refined materials, updated colour palettes and lighting that draws on the drama of performance, interpreted through a modern lens rather than overt ornamentation.

Guest rooms and suites have been redesigned to balance French colonial elegance with contemporary restraint. Rich tones drawn from the world of opera – crimson, olive-gold and warm ochre – are paired with clean-lined furnishings, textured fabrics and subtle Art Deco detailing. Bathrooms adopt the feel of private dressing rooms, complete with operatic vanity mirrors, mosaic tiles, and carefully considered lighting.

Lautrec, the hotel’s signature restaurant, reopens within its iconic indoor atrium setting, introducing a refreshed dining concept centred on a live kitchen that reinforces its role as a signature social space.

Beyond accommodation and dining, the renovation introduces new guest spaces designed for slower moments. A library lounge will open on the seventh floor, offering a quiet retreat above the city, while a new coffee lounge on the second floor adds a relaxed social layer to the hotel’s daily rhythm. An iconic Italian luxury brand will also open a boutique connected to the hotel premises, adding a discreet retail presence accessed directly from the street and aligned with the property’s design sensibility.

A new M Moment – MGallery’s signature experience designed to connect guests with the destination – is also in development, drawing on the hotel’s artistic identity and its cultural surroundings. Details will be revealed at a later date.

Behind the scenes, the renovation programme includes significant infrastructure upgrades. New chiller systems have been installed to improve energy efficiency and guest comfort, while 600 square metres of rooftop solar panels – among the first of their kind in Hanoi’s hotel sector – are expected to reduce grid energy dependency by approximately five per cent.

Long-standing community partnerships remain central to the hotel’s philosophy of giving back to its local environment. Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery Collection continues its collaboration with VietHarvest, redistributing surplus food to underserved communities, and sustains its support of The Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. These initiatives contributed to the hotel’s recognition as one of Vietnam’s Top 10 Best Green Hotels at the Vietnam Tourism Awards 2025.

“Our renovation is not about changing who we are, but about refining it,” said Alberto J. Lugo-Vina, General Manager of Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery Collection. “Every update has been guided by the same question: how do we honour the theatre, the heritage and the soul of this hotel, while ensuring it remains relevant, comfortable and meaningful for today’s traveller?”

With its phased transformation continuing into 2026, Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi – MGallery Collection enters its next act with clarity and restraint, evolving its spaces while keeping its sense of performance firmly centre stage.
