Chennai, November 2025: Hyatt Regency Chennai, in collaboration with The Good Doll, concluded its unique Christmas celebration with the unveiling of the Tree of Goodness — a heart-warming installation that reimagined what a festive tree can stand for.

Instead of traditional ornaments, the hotel’s lobby was adorned with hundreds of tiny handmade fabric dolls, each meticulously crafted in the Nilgiris by rural and indigenous women artisans. These six-inch dolls, specially designed for the celebration and dressed in traditional Indian attire, transformed the space into a symbol of joy, inclusion, and meaningful giving.

At the core of this initiative was a simple yet powerful belief: festive cheer can create real-world impact. Every doll represented the skill, livelihood, and dignity of a woman artisan. Guests and visitors who attended the event were gifted one of these dolls, allowing the message of kindness and purpose to extend far beyond the hotel.

For The Good Doll, the installation offered a chance to showcase its mission on a festive stage. A purpose-driven toy company from the Nilgiris, The Good Doll creates sustainable fabric dolls that reflect real Indian identities while generating equitable opportunities for women. At the heart of the brand is Nilah, a relatable Indian character whose stories celebrate diversity and inspire children to see themselves in the toys they play with.

This year, the initiative was further strengthened through a tie-up with Premavasam, an NGO supporting children with special needs and those from under-resourced backgrounds. As part of the association, Hyatt Regency Chennai distributed stationery kits and essential supplies to the children, extending the spirit of care beyond the hotel.

The event also featured a captivating performance by young dancers from The School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance

The celebration culminated with Dr. Anil Vaidya ceremonially lighting the Christmas tree, marking the beginning of a season rooted in compassion and community. Guests received a handcrafted Good Doll as a keepsake, carrying the message of purposeful joy into their homes.

The Tree of Goodness stands as a testament to Hyatt Regency Chennai’s commitment to meaningful celebrations — reminding guests that beauty can be purposeful and that Christmas is ultimately about connection, compassion, and giving back.
