With India home to 20% of the world’s Gen Z population and an increasing number of LGBTQ+ affirmative individuals, the country presents substantial prospects for inclusive travel. The event presented a platform for industry experts to explore these opportunities and exchange solutions that can further elevate this potential.

The sessions discussed the issues of international policies, safety and best practices for LGBTQIA+ travellers and also highlighted the untapped potential of marketing for the queer community.

“The LGBTQ+ community in India is in a position to revamp and transform the travel and hospitality industry. With this symposium, we aim to tap into a market that is very much willing and ready to engage.”

LoAnn Halden, Vice President of Communications, IGLTA

“Creating authentic marketing campaigns for the community and ensuring the messaging of safe spaces is given can encourage travellers from the LGBTQIA+ communities to travel freely, thereby having a significant impact on the business and society at large. Sometimes, even putting a rainbow flag can be a radical message of safe space, provided it is backed by affirmative actions,”

Swati Jain, Founder Katha Studio.

As India continues to grow in the global travel market, the discussions held at IGLTA Foundation LGBTQ+ Travel Symposium further empowers a more inclusive industry that can drive tangible change and nurture authentic engagement
