Hong Kong, 5 November 2024 – Lanson Place Causeway Bay, known for its understated elegance and tranquil setting, pioneers a new initiative that brings its vibrant surroundings to life. The bespoke map empowers visitors to embark on a self-guided walking tour of the undiscovered delights of this dynamic community just steps away from its doors.
Far more than a navigation tool, the map uncovers the essence of Causeway Bay and nearby Tai Hang, two of Hong Kong’s most exciting districts. Thoughtfully curated for today’s travellers, it invites guests to follow lesser-known trails trodden by locals, allowing them to immerse themselves in the cultural richness and modern pulse of the area at their own pace and according to their interests. For a personal touch, the hotel’s knowledgeable concierge team will also be able to offer personalised recommendations based on each guest’s individual interests, further fostering an invaluable sense of hospitality and connection.
Creative partnerships
In collaboration with some of Hong Kong’s most talented creatives, the insider’s guide spotlights iconic landmarks like the Jardine Noonday Gun in Causeway Bay and the historically significant Lin Fa Kung Temple in Tai Hang. But what sets this initiative apart is its focus on lesser-known, independent businesses — intimate eateries, artisanal shops and secret gems that reflect the neighbourhood’s authenticity.
The map was illustrated by Hong Kong-born artist Don Mak, known for his whimsical, evocative style that blends the city’s distinct cultural and urban elements. His work celebrates both the iconic architecture and the natural beauty of the area, presenting them through an artistic lens that reflects the locale’s distinct charm.
In addition to the physical map, Lanson Place Causeway Bay has also produced a series of videos in partnership with Handl Media, a creative agency with extensive experience in hospitality branding.
The videos complement the map by featuring the hotel’s elevated luxury offerings alongside the vibrancy of Causeway Bay and showcase the unique blend of local, Western and Asian cultures through interesting finds spotlighted on the map. The aim is to inspire guests to explore not just the hotel, but also the diverse community around them. Through this, the hotel hopes to encourage more meaningful interactions within the neighbourhood where local residents live, work and play.
Meaningful discoveries
Recognising the growing trend of travellers seeking deeper, hyperlocal experiences, Lanson Place Causeway Bay’s guide encourages exploration beyond the usual tourist hotspots.
“As an integral part of the neighbourhood, Lanson Place serves as a crucial nexus within the community by fostering genuine connections with our guests,” says Connie Wang, Head of Marketing Communications at Lanson Place Hospitality Management Limited.
“Our initiative in crafting an area guide and collaborating with talented creatives symbolises our commitment to uncovering the local delights of the city. By supporting local businesses and artisans, we seek to nurture the culture of our neighbourhood, creating a deeper sense of belonging for our guests.”
The next chapter
This initiative is just the beginning of Lanson Place’s evolving guest experience. A digital version of the map is currently in development, offering travellers a convenient way to access the guide on their devices. Plans are also underway to integrate the map with additional content directly on the hotel’s website, enhancing accessibility and interactivity for guests planning their stay.
As part of its broader strategy, Lanson Place is focused on creating meaningful partnerships with the local community, furthering its ethos of connection and inclusion. By celebrating the neighbourhood’s diverse businesses and creative personalities, the hotel aims to give guests a deep sense of place, inviting them to feel at home within Causeway Bay.
More than just a luxurious stay, Lanson Place is committed to fostering a community-driven experience, where guests are invited to explore, engage and truly feel like they belong. The physical map is now available for guests at the hotel’s concierge desk and on the website. Video highlights and insider finds will be progressively released on Lanson Place’s social media channels.
