The Riverview Retreat, Jim Corbett

Corbett, Uttarakhand, 6th October: Leisure Hotels Group (LHG), North India’s leading experiential resort chain and a proud homegrown brand from Uttarakhand, is set to further consolidate its leadership in Corbett with the launch of another experiential resort this December. With this addition, the Group will operate four distinctive properties offering over 260 accommodation options—ranging from cottage-style rooms and suites to immersive swiss tents, making it Corbett’s most diverse and expansive portfolio.

Since its foray into Corbett in 1993, LHG has played a pioneering role in shaping the destination's wilderness experience, creating Sanctuaries that blend seamlessly with nature and offer guests an immersive, authentic stay. Opening its first riverside retreat when Corbett had only a handful of organised accommodation options, the Group helped lay the foundation for India’s premier wildlife destination. Today, Corbett represents nearly 35% of LHG’s Uttarakhand portfolio.

Taj Corbett Resort & Spa

The journey has been marked by milestones that redefined Corbett’s hospitality. The Riverview Retreat (2000) introduced cottage-style accommodations nestled alongside the Kosi River, Jamoon Camp (2010) brought immersive tented lodging close to the forest, and Taj Corbett Resort & Spa (2016) elevated the region’s luxury positioning. The upcoming experiential resort (2025) will add further scale and depth to LHG’s presence in Corbett.

Mukund Prasad, Managing Director, Leisure Hotels Group, said: “In the early 1990s, Corbett was a hidden wilderness retreat. As it emerged as India’s most celebrated wildlife destination, Leisure Hotels Group helped shape its tourism narrative. We didn’t just open properties— we set the standards for how Corbett would be experienced, from riverfront retreats and swiss tents to luxury resorts. Today, we are proud to be the only hospitality chain offering such a layered experience. For us, the journey has never been just about building hotels—it has been about nurturing a destination, preserving its culture, and redefining responsible wilderness tourism for the future.”

Each property in the cluster caters to a different audience—families, couples, wildlife enthusiasts, adventure seekers, wedding & social groups, and corporates alike. Riverside cottages recall rustic design, jungle camps immerse travellers in the wild, and luxury resorts offer refined comfort. Beyond jeep safaris, the Group curates birding trails, riverside picnics, night walks, rafting expeditions, and wilderness-inspired dining such as riverside breakfasts, jungle barbecues, and Kumaoni menus featuring local classics.

The Jamoon, Jim Corbett

Equally significant is LHG’s commitment to community and culture. The Group embraced Sundarkhal village, creating employment opportunities, hospitality training, and platforms for local art and performance. Initiatives such as reviving Aipan art, supporting Chhaliya dancers, and Indian classical music showcases like Ragas by the River ensure Corbett’s legacy thrives alongside hospitality growth. Sustainability is embedded across our operations through initiatives such as solar power, rainwater harvesting, wildlife partnerships, and waste management.

Vibhas Prasad, Director, Leisure Hotels Group

“In Corbett, we discovered more than opportunity, we established the foundation of our legacy,” added Vibhas Prasad, Director, Leisure Hotels Group. “Over the past three decades, we have introduced immersive stays, authentic dining, pioneering wilderness activities, and community-driven initiatives that have defined the Corbett experience. With this new resort along the kosi river joining our cluster, we are reaffirming our commitment to keeping Corbett on the global wilderness tourism map.”

As both pioneers and custodians of Corbett’s hospitality legacy, the Group continues to preserve nature, nurture hospitality, and ensure Corbett remains an enduring, soulful destination where wilderness meets warmth. Looking ahead, Leisure Hotels Group is guided by its vision to become India’s foremost experiential resort chain with 100 properties by 2030.
