A decadent 10-day feast of Persia’s royal flavours at Farmers Basket

New Delhi, August 2025: This August, Farmers’ Basket invites you on a sensory journey to the heart of Iran with a 10-day celebration of the country’s most treasured flavours from 22nd to 31st August 2025. Leading this culinary voyage is the much-loved Iranian Chef Mona Poordaryaeinezhad, whose warmth, skill, and artistry have made her a familiar name in some of the finest kitchens across Iran, the UAE, and India.

Born in the port city of Bandar Abbas, Chef Mona grew up surrounded by the aromas of fresh herbs, saffron, and slow-cooked stews. Over the past two decades, she has brought these memories to life in her cooking from heading kitchens in Dubai’s Heritage Restaurant Group to teaching thousands of students in Iran, and curating Persian food festivals at iconic hotels in India. She has also penned four cookbooks, sharing the stories and recipes of her homeland with the world.

The festival’s menu reflects her belief that food should tell a story. Guests will begin with a generous spread of mezze – smoky Baba Ganoush, cooling Mast-o-Kheyer, and rich Khash-e-Bademjan. Appetisers include the saffron-kissed Paneer-e-Zaffran and hearty Kofta Shiraz. For the main course, comforting Dal-e-Persian and flavour-packed Murgh Bukhara are paired with fragrant rice dishes like Gosht Mewah Pulao and Adasi Polo.

Before dessert, diners will tear into pillowy Naan-e-Davai and Naan-e-Kirmani, fresh from the oven. The sweet finale is a jewel box of Persian treats golden Zardh, creamy Halwa-e-Sheer, jewel-toned Lab-e-Shireen, and more, each carrying the scent of rosewater and the warmth of tradition.
