Pune, India, 30th October’25, Step into the vibrant spirit of Kerala’s famed toddy-shops with Tales of the Toddy Shops, an exclusive micro-cuisine experience and artisanal residency that channels the laid-back joy, spice-laden flavors and convivial ambience of the region’s rustic drink-and-dine culture. In Kerala, the toddy shop is more than just a venue for toddy (palm-sap liquor) it is a community space where hearty coastal fare, fresh catch curries, coconut-infused stews and lively camaraderie come together in a uniquely local celebration.

At the heart of the residency is celebrated Kerala-cuisine specialist Arun Kumar T.R., whose culinary journey bridges tradition and innovation. A graduate of St Stephen’s College in Delhi, Arun Kumar began his professional life as a writer and filmmaker before turning full-time to cooking. Drawing on a heritage rooted in his Nair family from Thrissur, Kerala, he has crafted menus that honor the region’s coastal traditions, from mathanga erissery (pumpkin in browned coconut) to tangy fish curries and rich coconut milk-based gravies. His latest book, Feast on a Leaf, explores the rituals, science and flavours behind the iconic Onam Sadya.
