MALE, Maldives – September 2025 –Conrad Maldives Rangali Islandis proud to announce its official certification as a PADI Eco Center, a recognition awarded to dive resorts that go beyond standard operations to protect the ocean and educate future generations of ocean advocates. Conrad Maldives is one of only two resorts in the Maldives to achieve this certification in 2025, making it a rare distinction that reflects the team’s unwavering commitment to marine conservation and sustainability.
As part of this journey, the team adopted the Conrad House Reef under PADI’s Adopt the Blue program, conducting aDive Against Debriscleanup dive around the reef near Ithaa Underwater Gem. The dive team collected 10 kilograms of marine litter, primarily plastics and metal fragments.
The team also joined Green Fins in June 2025 and has since implemented a number of sustainable practices. These include paperless dive check-ins, eco-briefings before every excursion, reduced plastic use with glass bottle alternatives, and visible signage to promote responsible snorkeling and diving across the dive center.
In addition to operational improvements, the marine team actively involves guests in coral restoration efforts. So far this year, they have facilitated 17 coral line adoptions, where guests are invited to attend a short educational session before attaching coral fragments to nursery lines and helping place them underwater.
“This certification represents a milestone for us,” says Jessica Miller, Marine Biologist at Conrad Maldives. “It’s the result of dedicated teamwork and genuine care for the ocean. Watching our guests become part of the solution, whether through coral planting or learning about local marine life, is what makes this so special.”
“We’re incredibly proud of the team’s achievement in making Conrad Maldives a certified PADI Eco Center,” adds Nick Flynn, General Manager. “This milestone is part of our long-term commitment to sustainability and a testament to how luxury and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.”
Ranjit Batra, CEO of Ventive Hospitality, the owning company of Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, emphasized the significance of the achievement, stating,“The PADI Eco Center recognition for Conrad Maldives Rangali Island underscores our commitment to protecting marine ecosystems while shaping the future of responsible travel. We are proud of Conrad for leading the way in sustainability across the Maldives.”His remarks affirm Ventive Hospitality’s dedication to fostering responsible tourism while reinforcing the resort’s leadership as a model of sustainable luxury in the region.
The PADI Eco Center certification builds on Conrad Maldives’ broader sustainability vision and Hilton’sTravel With Purposeprogram. The resort plans to continue offering educational dives, coral adoption experiences, and conservation briefings that encourage guests to dive deeper into purpose-driven travel. Guests can visit the resort’s Dive Center to learn more, sign up for upcoming marine activities, or take part in hands-on conservation work during their stay.
