-Culinary Culture to organise two exclusive events at The Oberoi, New Delhi-

New Delhi, May 2025: In a groundbreaking moment for India’s culinary scene, Culinary Culture, the nation’s leading authority on food proudly presents a-once-in-a-lifetime moment with Disfurtar, Barcelona in India for the first time in partnership with The Oberoi, New Delhi and Don Julio.

On 29th May 2025, Oriol Castro, Head Chef and Co-Owner of the Three Michelin-starred Disfrutar—currently ranked No. 1 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will lead an exclusive session showcasing the restaurant’s pioneering culinary philosophy.

The invite-only event has been curated for India’s F&B industry, chefs, culinary students, and passionate food lovers to engage directly with the best in the world. Attendees will witness a live demonstration of Disfrutar’s avant-garde techniques, celebrated for their theatrical presentation, scientific precision, and imaginative brilliance. The session promises rare insights into the creative processes behind iconic dishes that have redefined modern gastronomy, stemming from the revolutionary legacy of elBulli.

“India is one of the world’s greatest culinary cultures, and unfortunately one place we have not had an opportunity to visit—until now. We are grateful for the invitation to showcase a little of what we do at Disfrutar in Barcelona. I’m excited to visit New Delhi, discover India’s cuisine, and take back inspiration with us. Thank you to Culinary Culture, The Oberoi and Don Julio for making this possible,”

Oriol Castro, Head Chef and Co-Owner, Disfrutar.

Co-founded in 2014 by Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, and Mateu Casañas—all former head chefs at elBulli—Disfrutar is widely regarded as its spiritual successor. Their cuisine blends bold creativity with rigorous research, transforming every plate into a multisensory narrative that challenges conventions and delights the senses.

“We are delighted to partner with Culinary Culture to bring Disfrutar—the reigning World’s No. 1 restaurant—to India. As we celebrate 60 years of The Oberoi, New Delhi, we are curating a series of exceptional experiences. What better way to begin this milestone year than by hosting Disfrutar at our iconic hotel,”

Abhishek Panshikar, Vice President and General Manager – The Oberoi, New Delhi.

At Culinary Culture, our mission is to bring the best of the world to India, and it’s an honour to welcome the reigning World No. 1 restaurant, Disfrutar, to New Delhi. We are thrilled to host this Superclass by Oriol Castro for India’s chef community and culinary students, and equally excited to take the team across India to showcase our food and culture. None of this would have been possible without the support of our longstanding partners, The Oberoi Hotels and Diageo, and we are grateful for their commitment to bringing word class experiences to India,”

Raaj Sanghvi, CEO, Culinary Culture.

As a prelude to the Superclass, Chef Oriol Castro will join Vir Sanghvi, Chairman, Culinary Culture for a special Culinary Conversation on 27th May 2025 at The Oberoi, New Delhi, offering an intimate evening of insight, storytelling and cultural dialogue. The conversation will explore Oriol’s journey—from his formative years under Ferran Adrià at elBulli to co-founding Disfrutar and leading it to the pinnacle of global dining.

This milestone event is part of Culinary Culture’s Culinary Exchange series, which has previously brought to India culinary legends such as Massimo Bottura, Mauro Colagreco, Virgilio Martínez, Heston Blumenthal, Alain Ducasse, Andoni Luis Aduriz, Dani García, and Julien Royer, among many others. This upcoming session promises to be equally transformative for India’s culinary community.
