Europe’s leading health spa operator takes over Sairme resorts in the Caucasus – reopening in the second quarter of 2026 after renovations and extensions

Ensana Hotels, Europe’s leading health spa operator, is expanding to the Republic Georgia, where it will take over the operation of the Sairme Resort complex next year. The New Sairme, Sairme Resort and Sairme Public Spa are nestled at an altitude of over 900 metres in the unspoilt landscape of the Caucasus Mountains and are among the leading spa and wellness facilities in the region. The three facilities are currently undergoing renovations and extensions before reopening in the second quarter of 2026 under Ensana’s management.

Valuable thermal water for therapeutic applications

The Sairme area is renowned for its thermal waters, which are ideal for therapeutic treatments, particularly for the musculoskeletal system. The carbonated mineral water, which also comes from Sairme, is used for drinking cures for restoring liver, urinary tract, kidney and gastrointestinal function. The New Sairme and the Sairme Resort offer treatments using these waters, but are first being redesigned to meet the high standards of the Ensana brand values. This includes a strong focus on a holistic, integrative medical approach to improving health and well-being. In many therapies, Ensana therefore combines centuries-old knowledge of the effects of natural remedies, such as the waters from Sairme, with naturopathic treatments and the latest medical findings. Stays in Sairme are rounded off by many experiences in the hotels and the impressive mountains with its dense forests.

Sairme is located about 3.5 hours’ drive west of the Georgian capital Tbilisi. The region is also not far from Kutaisi, the country’s third-largest city, with Kutaisi International Airport. This means that visitors from abroad can also travel to the region with ease.

"We are thrilled to bring Ensana to Georgia, an amazing country with incredibly warm and hospitable people,”. “Georgia has an immense potential, particularly in the area of health spa tourism, coupled with its rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty which makes the country a perfect addition to our portfolio.”

Frank Halmos, CEO of Ensana

“Ensana is an important and strategic partner for our properties in Sairme,”. “As a sign of our strong trust and belief in this cooperation, we are making a significant investment in the properties to target clients at different price points. At a later stage, we are planning to develop the destination even further. This cooperation will empower local communities to grow and foster new capabilities and create meaningful opportunities for people in the region.”

Temur Kokhodze, the owner of the Sairme resorts

New Ensana hotels also in southern Germany, Italy and Saudi Arabia

With its entry into the Georgian market, Ensana is continuing its ambitious expansion course. The company recently announced its takeover of the Fürstenhof in Bad Griesbach, which is set to reopen in mid-2026 following renovation work. From the end of 2026, a new luxurious Ensana health resort will welcome guests in Montegrotto Terme, Italy, and a wellness resort is also being built in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. Ensana’s current locations include, among others, Marienbad (Czech Republic), Piestany (Slovakia), Budapest (Hungary), Sovata (Romania) and the spa town of Sts. Constantine and Elena (Bulgaria).
