GATEWAY STEPS INTO PAHALGAM

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 9, 2025: Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a hotel in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The brownfield project will be under the Gateway brand.

Ms. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL said, “With its pristine landscapes and rich cultural heritage, Pahalgam’s appeal spans across leisure, spiritual, adventure and eco-tourism segments, making it a compelling destination for today’s traveller. This signing is in line with IHCL’s strategy to tap into high-potential destinations that offer both scenic beauty and a strong tourism ecosystem. We are delighted to partner with Mr. Riaz Ahmad Panjra for this project.”

The 64-key Gateway Pahalgam will offer an immersive stay experience featuring an all-day dining restaurant and a specialty restaurant. Guests can enjoy a range of wellness and recreational amenities including a heated pool, spa, gym and health club. The resort will also feature banqueting facilities spread over 2,000 sq. ft., catering to intimate gatherings and events.

Pahalgam, nestled in the Himalayas along the banks of the Lidder River, is a picturesque hill station known for its breathtaking views, lush meadows and snow-capped mountains.

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 7 hotels in Jammu and Kashmir, including 1 under development.

Mr. Riaz Ahmad Panjra is the Managing Director of Cemtac Cements, a leading cement manufacturer in Jammu and Kashmir, established in 2008. Under his leadership, Cemtac Cements has grown into a well-recognized brand in the region.

Beyond the cement industry, Mr. Riaz has a presence in the hospitality sector, owning and operating multiple hotels in Srinagar and Pahalgam. Additionally, he has investments in the agricultural sector, further diversifying his business portfolio.
