Bangalore, October 2024 – Celebrating over 42 years of hospitality, ITC Windsor Hotel, the world's first LEED Zero Carbon certified hotel, stands as a symbol of responsible luxury in Bangalore. With 239 elegantly appointed rooms and five distinct dining experiences showcasing authentic Indian and international cuisines, ITC Windsor draws inspiration from the classic English manor house style, embodying timeless elegance and a steadfast dedication to environmental stewardship.

Key Sustainable Initiatives

ITC Windsor, the world’s first LEED Zero Carbon Certified hotel, meets nearly all its electrical energy needs through renewable sources like wind and solar making it one of the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly hotels in India.
The design harnesses natural light, of most of the public spaces illuminated through Low-E glass. The plant room operates on a net-zero model, using an electric boiler powered by renewable energy, and cooking is done with Agnisumukh gas burners, which emit zero carbon soot. Air sterilization technology, including photo hydro ionization, disperses hydrogen peroxide molecules to neutralize pathogens.

Efficient water management includes drip irrigation, aerators, treated recycled water, nanofluids for heat transfer, and rainwater harvesting, all governed by a hydro-pneumatic system. Waste is minimized with an organic waste converter that processes a ton of food waste into compost daily, and sustainable materials are prioritized, such as Green Seal-certified chemicals, no-VOC paints, and FSC-certified wood.

Additional Green Efforts

ITC Windsor supports local sustainability efforts, installing rainwater harvesting systems in government schools to foster environmental awareness. In green banqueting, natural lighting, timer-controlled circuits, in-house bottled water, and locally sourced supplies are emphasized, with menu options designed to educate guests about the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their choices. A pioneering project evaluates includes a carbon labelling program for menu items, highlighting their carbon footprint to help consumers make eco-friendly choices.

Through innovative energy solutions, responsible sourcing, and education, ITC Windsor redefines sustainable luxury, setting new standards in the hospitality industry for eco-conscious practices and guest experiences.
