 This festive season, voco Jim Corbett showcases its dedication to sustainability, community, and craftsmanship with a unique Christmas initiative. The hotel partnered with Tharu craftswomen, empowering local artisans to create a remarkable Christmas tree handcrafted from wild grass. Responsibly sourced from nearby communities, this one-of-a-kind tree symbolizes voco’s respect for local traditions and its commitment to empowering local artisans. Beyond festive decoration, it stands as a testament to the values of sustainability and community connection.

The tree was meticulously crafted over 10 days at the resort. The Tharu women used wild lemon grass, peels from local date trees, and moonjh grass, and adorned it with colorful wool decorations—reflecting their artistic expertise. While Tharu women were hesitant about stepping out of the village for this project, the team at voco Jim Corbett provided them with complete support, ideating and collaborating closely to bring this sustainable tree concept to life.

The initiative was unveiled with a tree lighting ceremony held at the hotel on December 20, 2024. The Tharu women and their families were present, celebrating alongside guests who greatly appreciated the thoughtful creation. The handcrafted tree, illuminated in a warm glow, highlighted the artistry behind the tree and celebrated the fusion of tradition and eco-conscious innovation.
