Hyatt Hotels group will launch three more hotels in Kerala besides its Grand Hyatt in Kochi. Two of the hotels in Malayattoor near Kochi and in Thrissur will come up this year. The one in Thiruvananthapuram will be opened next year.
"All the three will belong to Hyatt Regency category," said Shrikant Wakharkar, general manager of Grand Hyatt, Kochi, which is celebrating its first anniversary. He said the hotel in Thiruvananthapuram will be the biggest among the three with 200 rooms. It will be renovated one of an old property. The Thrissur hotel will have 77 rooms while the one in Malayattoor will be comparatively small hotel.
"We would like to promote Kerala as a destination for MICE , wedding and leisure travel," Wakharkar said. With one of the largest convention centres in the country, Grand Hyatt, Kochi was able host 250 MICE events, over 200 weddings and social events in last one year.
"The city will see more national and international events and conventions in the coming months," he said. He expected the occupancy of the hotel to go up to 60% from 45 to 50% last year. The group has plans to promote Kerala in rains so as to make the state a year-long tourist destination.
Hyatt has 850 properties across 60 countries, of which 30 are in India.
