April 26, 2022: Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), South Asia’s largest hospitality company’s luxury lifestyle store Khazana & Antaran-Transforming Crafts; Tata Trusts’ Craft-Based Livelihood Programme comes together to showcase a curated collection of handwoven textiles on 1st May, 2022 at Taj West End, Bengaluru. This unique collaboration between Khazana and Antaran furthers the intent to impact the livelihood of thousands of weavers across Odisha, Assam, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh.
A curated exhibit of Indian handlooms and handpicked collection of masterpieces created using traditional weaves of the regions is going to be on display at the Art Corridor at Taj West End.
The exhibit will display an exclusive curated collection of Single Weft Ikats from Maniabandha – Odisha, Fine Tussar silks from Gopalpur Odisha, Zari Jamdani technique of Venkatgiri Andhra Pradesh, Cotton, Muga Silk & Eri Silk of Kamrup & Nalbari – Assam and Loin Loom weaves of Dimapur and Phek – Nagaland. Artisan Entrepreneurs from 6 clusters will be present to share their journey and talk about their craftsmanship.
Hands-on experience & demonstration on Backstrap loom of Nagaland, Tussar Hand reeling, Eri Silk hand spinning & Bandha tying technique will be presented to the customers to understand the nuances of the craft.
