Industry Experts Advocate for Policy Changes Regarding Plastic Pollution

It is important to educate representatives on the issue and urge them to implement solutions.

Lords Hotels fervently adheres to the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle philosophy and has meticulously mapped out its Environment Chapter as a sign of its protection for Mother Earth and her surroundings. We are the first hotel company in India to introduce and use an environment charter. Lords has always made an effort to make all of its properties as environmentally friendly as possible. Some of the techniques that have been implemented are turning wet waste into fertilizer and making sure that plastics are disposed of properly. The housekeeping division has been directed to make sure that waste is disposed of separately for plastics, dry waste, and wet waste at the point of origin. Recycled newspapers are used to make the laundry bags that are stored inside the rooms.

We have replaced plastic straws with paper straws and eliminated the usage of plastic bottles and instead use glass bottles with quality drinking water for our restaurants, meeting rooms, guestrooms, and banquets.”

Foundations can be key players in shaping the landscape for that policy and building knowledge and momentum. On the other side of the statutory process after a policy passes through regulation and becomes law, some of the harder and longer-term advocacy work begins as new policies are implemented. In my prospect one needs to use their convening power to bring together the best minds around to control plastic pollution and also to spark discussion with new ideas that may become placeholders for future policy. Grantmakers can play a powerful role in helping to educate a community about plastic usage and can even educate policymakers directly in many cases to control usage of plastic in our day to day life.

The House Keeping staff at VITS Select Rajkot replaces the waste bags in the rooms daily. They are using biodegradable bags, which have been deemed more convenient than traditional plastic bags. This plastic is created from natural materials such as corn, potato, and wheat starch, rather than from petroleum like traditional plastics. In addition to the aforementioned, we also engage in initiatives such as water conservation and waste reduction.
