As the end of year festivity grips the city with a celebratory mood, InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort ushered in the celebration of Christmas with its tree lighting ceremony with luminaries, media friends and business partners from the city a symbol to officially flag off the festive season. The resort unveiled its iconic Christmas Tree named as the “tree of life” which was conceptualised by the head of marketing Nelson Gomes. The tree lighting ceremony was graced by Meenakshi Govindharajan as the chief guest.
Kunal Shanker, General Manager of the resort stated that the tree is sustainable and bio- degradable woven entirely of coconut leaves adds a lot of local-style holiday happiness to this festive season. The Coconut tree is believed to bring good luck and Coconut water is second purest liquid in the world after water. It was also a great opportunity to showcase the weaving industry which has so much to offer and is getting immensely popular.”
Bharathi Perumal the operations head stated that the tree was meticulously worked over a week by our hotel team supported by Suresh Ganesan the Executive Housekeeper with the guidance of Chief Engineer, Samuel David. Also, Ramasamy S the Assistant Food and Beverage manager arranged the execution and decorations to make the evening look so beautiful.
Gourmet Christmas feasting was curated by the Executive Chef, Mihir Kane for the event, displaying an array of delicacies for high tea. A stellar display of festive treats right from ‘Plum Cake’ to various ‘cookies’ were laid out for the guests to taste. Curated artisanal hampers are also available for gifting purpose.
The event kicked off with the carols singing by the students of SRM University. Santa Claus entry on a buffet was the most epic with a bag filled with chocolates which excited the bunch of children.
The evening ended with vote of thanks by Irfan Khan, the Director of Sales and Marketing to commence the season and bring in festive cheer for our guests.
