Located in the heart of Bandra, it is here to offer tasty Tamil street food. Madras Mail is true to its name and brings delicious street food in a relaxed, easy going space. Founded by Kishore D. F, a restauranteur with a legendary experience of over three decades known for his ventures like Pot Pourri, Lemon Grass Café, Seijo & The Soul Dish, WTF, Jimmy Hu, The Brooklyn Shuffle, The Bombay Bronx, The Tanjore Tiffin Room, The Butler And The Bayleaf, Foo, Bombay Taco Company and many more
Curated by the makers of The Tanjore Tiffin Room, Madras Mail takes one back to a time when Madras was a cult, not just a city. From its streets to station platforms to its bus stand, if you delve deep, you will find Madras on your plate, sizzling.
Starting the menu with the Madrasi street staple, the Parotta Rolls are flaky and bursting with flavours. The fillings are made with age old recipes that have made their way down generations and are as delicious as they are aromatic. The Yam and Potato Varuval Parotta Roll and the Paneer Chettinad Parotta Roll are perfect for all the vegetarians out there. For the non-vegetarians, they have variants across all the different meats. The Chicken Chettinad Parotta Roll, Buff Pepper Parotta Roll and the Mutton Ghee Roast Parotta Roll are flavoursome with soft, tender meat in a flaky parotta, creating the perfect balance!
For those looking to move away from the traditional parotta rolls, there is a wide range of Kothu Parottas to choose from. To Kothu is to shred the parotta and then toss it in different gravies, spices and proteins and cook it to perfection. The Railway Chicken Kothu Parotta and the Mixed Veg Kothu Parotta will surely leave you nostalgic and craving for more. The Paniyaram are savoury, spiced dumplings made with different fillings inside them. As you break them apart to reveal the filling, you can bite into variants like Jackfruit & Pepper Paniyaram, Chilli Cheese Paniyaram, Madurai Chicken Paniyaram and a sweet variation to the staple, the Coconut Jaggery Paniyaram.
Craving buns? Their Madurai Bun Sliders are perfect for you! One might not know this but sliders stem from the bylanes of old Madras and have evolved greatly since then. But with their Madurai Bun Sliders, let’s make our way back in time. Made of mini milk burger buns with a patty of unique Tamilian flavours, one gets 3 sliders in a portion. The Raw Banana and Green Peas Slider and the Kadai Fried Prawn Slider are the most unique, and some of many on the menu!
The drinks at Madras Mail are just as innovative as the food but remain familiar in their quintessential flavours. The Iced Filter Coffee is their take on the classic staple, the filter coffee. For the ones who can’t go a meal without a refreshing lemon drink, there is the Lemon Barley. It is a unique drink that will definitely leave you wanting more!
Madras Mail is not just about the delicious food and unique flavours. They have given a lot of attention to the packaging as well. To complement the cuisine, they are making use of banana leaves. Their boxes are not only convenient to eat from but also eco-friendly, biodegradable and unbleached. What is served at Madras Mail is hot, flavourful, and comforting!
