MasterChef Australia Sashi Chelia – An Indian origin man, living the life of his dream

The winner of 10th season of MasterChef Australia, Shashi Cheliah is now a very popular face all over the world.

A dream achiever, Sashi was born and brought up in Singapore always had a string attached along the roots back to India, with his grandparents originally from Madurai.

For 12 years, Cheliah worked for the Special Tactics And Rescue (STAR) unit of the Singapore Police. Cheliah’s intreste began by observing his mother, a cafe owner and his aunts preparing meals for the family.
Cooking became dream for Sashi, and he left the job of cop for pursuing his passion.

And ultimately in 2018, with an incredible score of 93 on 100, he bagged the title of MasterChef Australia, making him first Indian to ever win an international Masterchef competition.

Sashi told reporters after the competition ended, “MasterChef has been an amazing ride for me – I never thought I would come this far in the competition and to win is icing on the cake.”

After winning the coveted title, Sashi Chelia opened his restaurant GAJA.
GAJA in Sanskrit गज- means ‘elephant’, which emblematizes strength, wisdom, loyalty, and solidarity, in Hindu culture.

Sashi’s food is authentically true to taste, bold, robust and full-to-brim with flavours. Spanning Indian, Singaporean and Malaysian classics.

Sashi Chelliah is living his dreams and exploring new things in his journey of life.
