Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata Appoints Somrup Chanda as New General Manager

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Somrup Chanda as the General Manager for Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata, effective 09 January 2026.

 Somrup brings over two decades of rich and diverse experience in the hospitality industry, having worked with leading hotel brands across India and the Middle East. His expertise spans Hotel Operations, Revenue Maximization, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Pre- openings.

 He began his career with Hyatt in Food & Beverage and grew through prestigious brands such as Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency before joining Marriott. At Marriott, he played a pivotal role in launching India’s first Sheraton Grand and later contributed significantly to the pre-opening and rebranding of Indore Marriott Hotel, introducing several award-winning concepts to the market. His journey also includes leadership roles with Accor in Kolkata and IHG in Abu Dhabi before returning to India.

 In 2023, Somrup assumed the role of Director of Operations at the iconic Bangalore Marriott Hotel Whitefield, where he successfully stabilized operations, enhanced guest satisfaction, improved revenue, and positioned the property as Karnataka’s largest single-branded hotel.

 Beyond his professional achievements, Somrup is an avid traveler, foodie, and pet lover. He will be joined by his wife Debanjali, daughter Saanvi, and their pet August.
