Chennai, June 2025: Hyatt Regency Chennai is proud to announce the appointment of Chef Rizwaan Qureshi as MasterChef – Indian Cuisine, bringing with him a storied lineage and over two decades of exceptional culinary experience spanning India and abroad.
The Qureshi family’s legacy is steeped in the royal traditions of Awadhi cuisine—a heritage that goes beyond recipes and enters the realm of memory, identity, and love. Each dish is a reflection of a time-honored journey, where cooking was not just about feeding but about storytelling, bonding, and preserving legacy. What you taste today is not just food—it’s a page from the family’s history book, lovingly passed down from generation to generation. The aromas of yesterday still linger in every bite, reminding us that the best recipes are often the ones written in the language of love and tradition.
With 22+ years of culinary expertise across India, UAE, Oman, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and the United Kingdom, Chef Qureshi has led kitchen brigades of 30+ chefs, designed acclaimed menus, and orchestrated successful restaurant openings. He is best known for his tenure at Moghul Express, Leicester, where under his leadership, the restaurant achieved a 5-star TripAdvisor rating, ranked #1 among Indian restaurants, and featured in the Top 10 overall in the region.
Chef Qureshi’s signature dishes—such as his legendary Barra Kebab and Mutton Dum Biryani—are culinary treasures inherited and perfected under the guidance of his great-grandfather. These dishes will now take center stage at Hyatt Regency Chennai, promising guests a regal experience of India's most iconic flavours.
In his role as MasterChef, Chef Qureshi will oversee the Indian kitchen operations, curate elevated regional menus, and train the culinary team in traditional techniques with contemporary execution. His emphasis on quality, hygiene, and authentic storytelling through food will help redefine the hotel’s Indian dining experience.
With Chef Qureshi leading the kitchen, Hyatt Regency Chennai is set to deliver bold, balanced, and unforgettable Indian cuisine—crafted with mastery and precision
