Mumbai, 11th August 2025: The TourismAuthorityofThailand (TAT) has appointed Mr. NattachitOonsiamas the new Directorof its MumbaiOffice, where he will lead destination marketing efforts and deepen trade and media partnerships across Western and Southern India, one ofThailand’s most vital source regions for inbound tourism.
A seniortourismprofessional with nearly two decadesofexperience at TAT, Mr.Oonsiambrings a strong track record in regional strategy, international marketing, and stakeholder engagement. Before his posting in India, he servedasDirectoroftheASEAN, SouthAsia and South Pacific Marketing Division, overseeingtourismpromotion across more than ten key markets, including India, Australia, andASEAN countries.
Mr.Oonsiambegan his career with TAT in 2007asSecretary to the Governor, where he supported high-level operations and inter-agency coordination. His subsequent roles across global divisions have equipped him with a sharp understandingofdiverse traveller profiles and market nuances.
Commenting on his newassignment, Mr.Oonsiamsaid:
“Thailandand India share more than just proximity—there is cultural closeness, emotional resonance, and an appetite for authentic travel experiences. My focus will be on strengthening these ties through sustained collaboration with travel agents, media, airlines, and influencers acrossWestern and Southern India, and on presentingThailandin fresh, compelling ways to both first-time and repeat travellers.”
AsDirectorof the MumbaiOffice, Mr. Oonsiam will oversee Thailand’s tourism promotion in Western and Southern India, including key markets such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.His focus will include destination diversification, digital outreach, and building visibility for nichetourismsegments suchasluxury, wellness, weddings, culinary, and family travel.
This appointment comes at a time whenThailandis reinforcing its commitment to attracting high-quality Indian travellers through enhanced air connectivity, bespoke travel experiences, and strong B2B and B2C engagement. With India continuing to rank amongThailand’s top source markets, Mr.Oonsiam’s leadership is expected to play a critical role in shaping the next phaseofgrowth and collaboration.
