Trivandrum: January 10, 2022: Reiterating its commitment to ‘Sustainable Hospitality’, O by Tamara, one of the most sought after business and leisure hotels in Trivandrum secured a ‘Four Star’ rating under Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). GRIHA is a rating tool developed by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) along with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India to reduce resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and enhance the use of renewable and recycled resources.

The four star certification was awarded to O by Tamara for its various sustainable approaches going right down to basics with site selection for the construction. Others include preservation and protection of landscape, water preservation, renewable energy utilization, minimizing the use of ozone depletion substances and efficient segregation and disposal of waste to name a few. In addition to the guidelines provided by GRIHA, O by Tamara has also demonstrated compliance with other innovative criteriasuch as the use of green housekeeping materials, environmental education and dedicated facilities for service staff.
