After the buzzing success of the 2021 edition of ProWine Mumbai amidst an ongoing pandemic, the Organisers, Messe Dusseldorf and All Things Nice are well poised for the next edition of ProWine Mumbai – the youngest member of the globally iconic Prowein World.
ProWine Mumbai takes place on the 17th and 18th of October, 2022 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
A 2-day World Class B2B and B2C event for the wine, spirits, craft beverages and hospitality industry as well as for consumers will enable International and Indian wine, spirits and craft brands to showcase themselves through conversations, storytelling and tastings as well as access to both industry peers and consumers through meaningful engagement.
ProWine Mumbai brings together the country’s community of brands, importers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers with international brands looking to enter the Indian market and noteworthy large-scale buyers including hotels, restaurants and bar owners.
The 2021 edition was the first in-person trade fair for the wine and spirits sector in India, since the start of the COVID pandemic. The show was well received and featured over 200 brands from 70 companies across 13 countries with 2,017 attendees. The event kick-started with dignitaries from The U.S. Consulate, the Consulate General of France, Australian High Commission, South African Consulate, Trade Centre of Argentina, Republic of Mauritius, corporate heads, media and industry associations.
The Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) estimates the market size of the Indian liquor industry to be $52.5 billion (about ₹3.9 trillion). Several bold steps have been initiated by the wine and spirits industry to policymakers to boost e-commerce and home delivery channels for alcoholic beverages with a strong regulatory framework that will fortify the state exchequer, protect the livelihood of millions of workers employed by the industry and prevent overcrowding at retail stores.
Recently, the Maharashtra Cabinet permitted the sale of wine in supermarkets and walk-in stores across the state. Progressive initiatives like this will improve wine production and sales by 20%-30%. This decision will build awareness of good quality domestic and imported wines. This will also provide better accessibility and increase much-needed consumption.
The evolving drinking preferences of the younger generation and the expanding liquor market in the Indian subcontinent have brought about a sea change in the way people consume their alcohol. Experiment and education are the keys.
Platforms like ProWine Mumbai are instrumental for the wine and spirit sellers, buyers and consumers. ProWine Mumbai enables face to face business meetings with Indian and international labels, introduction to new products and trends, the opportunity to taste over a thousand brands and attending masterclasses that are led by old mentors and young trailblazers provide a one-stop-shop for the best of knowledge, tasting and business
