New Update

Radisson Hotel Group’s Executive Leadership Team has delighted children on the Indonesian island of Batam with a visit to a local orphanage as part of its Responsible Business initiative.

This valuable Responsible Business initiative, which was undertaken during the Group’s 2018 Asia Pacific Business Conference, saw a team of senior executives from the global and Asia Pacific region visit the Virant Sejahtera Orphanage, meet the children and donate new beds, mattresses, and bed linen.

These contributions are vital for the orphanage, which relies heavily on charitable donations. The previous sleeping provisions were poor and needed replacing, so Radisson Hotel Group’s donations will help transform the living conditions of the children.

During the visit, the executives also took the children out for a fun-filled morning at the Radisson Golf & Convention Center Batam where the team played games of football and basketball with the kids. They were also able to chat with the care-takers and discuss the challenges facing the children and the orphanage.

“It was a wonderful experience to meet the children and carers at the Virant Sejahtera Orphanage,” said Katerina Giannouka, Radisson Hotel Group’s President, Asia Pacific, who led the Responsible Business mission. “We are delighted to be able to improve the facilities at the orphanage through our donations. But the most satisfying part of the visit was spending time with the children.

“Initiatives like this help to remind us about the things in life that truly matter. Responsible Business is a core part of Radisson Hotel Group’s global philosophy and we are fully committed to supporting local communities in every destination in which we operate,” Katerina added.

In total, Radisson Hotel Group’s Executive Leadership Team donated over $10,000 in equipment and kind to the Virant Sejahtera Orphanage. This will help to improve the sleeping conditions for the children at the orphanage, many of whom have suffered from issues associated with poverty, disability or violence. In total, the orphanage helps more than 450 children ranging from just a few days old up to 20 years of age.

The Responsible Business initiative is part of Radisson Hotel Group’s 2018 Asia Pacific Business Conference, which takes place at Radisson Golf & Convention Center Batam from June 26-28, 2018.
