Kolkata, 17^th November, 2020: Missing college days is something we all do, but the thing which we miss the most about it is the adda sessions at the college canteen. Swastik Nag, owner of Canteen Pub and Grub was quite inspired by this and wanted to give us a place with that rustic old vibe of that of our college canteen in a whole new way and style.

The décor of this place is beautifully done up by Swastik himself. Each wall of Canteen Pub & Grub is contrasting another, which makes it a fusion of artworks. The decor of this place can be called a contemporary yet industrial chic as the architecture gives a fresh feel with a rustic vibe. Contemporary floral wallpapers, designer wooden works, an array of designer photo frames, and 80's inspired flooring makes the decor extravagant. This place has its quirky quotient in place with the potted plants kept across the floor, flamboyant graffiti on the walls, recycled railway sleeper wood furniture, and neon signs. Green is the theme of this Pub. Just like our college canteen not only does this place offers us with a food counter where we can go and order food ourselves but also offers us an amazing bar counter. Swastik wants Canteen Pub & Grub to be known as a pocket-friendly place, with the best quality of food and drinks. The food and lip-smacking dishes of this place are one to fall for. Starting from the yummy Andhra Pepper Mutton, Murg Chupa Rustam, Peri Peri Fish in Malta Sauce to Canteen’s Bread Pakora and Canteen Community Combo. Murg Chupa Rustom is the owner's creation. For the first time, the stuffing of the chicken is done with Aamsatta, marinated with salt, pepper, and chaat masala. This dish is undoubtedly a surprise for the patrons and wakes and thrills the taste buds. Andhra Style Mutton is yet another lip-smacking dish, it is an authentic dish from Andhra, which is slowly cooked using Andhra spices, curry leaves, and last but not the least Guntur chilli. This spicy dish will bring the flavour of Andhra to your plate. Canteen Bread Pakora (Chicken) is one dish without which Canteen is incomplete. This dish carries all the nostalgia for most of the people. Chunks of chicken are cooked with Indian spices; cheese is added and fried in the canteen special batter served with tamarind and mint chutney. For veg delights you can try out Paneer Aamasutra Tikka, Three Cheese Dumplings. Paneer Aamasutra Tikka is one unique dish, ever heard of paneer tikka with a twist? If no, then this dish will make you go crazy. Homemade sweet mango pickle is stuffed inside the paneer tikka, which will give you a unique taste. Three Cheese Dumplings is made with Philadelphia cream cheese, cheddar, and processed cheese. Activated Charcoal is used for the colour of the dumplings. To treat your sweet tooth, you can indulge into the Apple Malpua and Mishti Doi Cheese Cake.

Apart from the amazing set of dishes Canteen Pub & Grub is also serving Drinks which are delectable to sip into. The signature shots of Canteen, Kalkatta ka kalakhatta and Apun Ka Mango Bite has a charm of its own and will make you feel tipsy and happy with its taste. Cocktails served here includes Gham ka Saathi Rum, Chaurasia Mojito, Bel ka khel, Imli Chatka, Pyar bhari Pulse, Honey Singh. Honey Singh as the name suggests, this drink is all about the party. An Irish whiskey infused cocktail mixed with green apple, honey cordial, and cinnamon. Gham ka sathi rum, which is another remarkable cocktail and at the same time it owns a name which is quite relatable for people, as it is said when you are in pain, rum is your best friend. And, what if we mix some Aamsatta in it? Yes, this is a rum infused signature cocktail, made with lime homemade pineapple puree, sun-dried mangoes, and cinnamon. Isn’t that great and a must try?
