Kolkata’s coffee culture takes a meaningful step forward with the opening of Yours Truly Coffee Roaster, a 15,000 sq ft experiential coffee destination housed in a restored 60-year-old bungalow. Spread across open lawns, shaded verandahs and multiple indoor and outdoor corners, the space is designed to slow people down and invite them into a deeper relationship with coffee.
At the heart of Yours Truly is Coffee Classroom, a dedicated learning format created to help everyday drinkers understand coffee beyond the cup. As specialty coffee gains popularity across India, genuine coffee knowledge often remains limited, with brewing terms feeling intimidating and the journey from bean to brew rarely explained. Coffee Classroom is designed to bridge that gap, making coffee education open, relatable and approachable.

“Coffee has been overcomplicated for far too long. Most drinks come from the same basic elements - coffee, milk, water and foam. The difference is only in ratios and technique,”. “Coffee Classroom exists to remove that confusion. Once people understand what they are drinking and why it tastes the way it does, they become far more confident and curious about coffee.”

Supporting this learning-first approach is an in-house roastery where all beans are ethically sourced and freshly roasted with complete transparency. The coffee programme features a rotating selection of Indian specialty beans from some of the country’s most respected estates, including Ratnagiri Estate, Attikan Estate, Thogarihunkal Estate, Baarbara Estate and Hoysala Estate. Each bean is chosen for its distinct flavour profile, from bright, fruit-forward light roasts to deeper, more complex medium roasts, allowing guests to experience how origin and processing shape taste.
The café experience flows naturally from this foundation. Guests are encouraged to choose their bean and then choose their brew, with handcrafted options including espresso, pour-over, AeroPress, siphon and moka pot. Cold brews and experimental coffee-based drinks add a contemporary layer, reinforcing the belief that no two beans, roasts or brews are ever the same.
Coffee Classroom complements this journey by offering hands-on exposure to green beans, roast profiles and manual brewing techniques. Positioned as an extension of the café rather than a separate classroom, it allows guests to engage as deeply as they choose, whether through guided sessions or casual conversations around the brew bar.
“Yours Truly was imagined as more than a café,”. “We wanted to build a space where people slow down, ask questions and genuinely understand what they are consuming. From the roastery and Coffee Classroom to the café and bakery, every corner is designed to make coffee feel approachable, not intimidating.”

Completing the experience is an in-house bakery developed in collaboration with Lavonne Bakery Academy and led by Sujata Newatia. The bakery offers artisanal sourdoughs, pastries and desserts crafted to pair thoughtfully with specialty brews, encouraging mindful coffee-and-food pairings throughout the day.
The project brings together experienced names from Kolkata’s food and beverage space, including Aditya Ladsaria and Aniruddh Poddar of Chai Break, Prateek Didwania of Snacking and Pico, and Piyush Kankaria and Vinay Sipani of The Yellow Straw. Their combined expertise brings operational strength, brand sensibility and a strong consumer focus.
With Coffee Classroom as its anchor, supported by in-house roasting, a curated selection of Indian specialty beans, a dedicated bakery and a spacious heritage bungalow setting, Yours Truly Coffee Roaster positions itself as a new benchmark for consumer-facing coffee culture in India.
